Mandy Christina Halker, 40, of Columbus Grove, died on Friday, April 24, 2020, at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.  She was born in Lima, Ohio on August 19, 1979, to Michael E. and Pamela M. (Rosengarten) Halker, who survive in Columbus Grove.

Mandy is survived by her daughter, Alexia "Lexie" Grace Jenkins, who was truly the light of Mandy's life.  She is also survived by a brother, Mickey James Halker; her identical twin sister, Melissa Marie Halker, both of Columbus Grove and her nieces and nephews, McKenzie (fiancée Adam Meyer) Halker, Morgan Halker, Trevan Halker and Madden Halker, all of Columbus Grove.

She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Ruth Rosengarten of Glandorf; her aunts and uncles, Debra (Toby) Donaldson, Tim (Corrine) Rosengarten, Ted (Carol) Rosengarten, James (Dianna) Halker, Dennis Halker, Gary (Lisa) Halker, Greg (Shirley) Halker, Mark (Cindy) Halker, Rick (Joyce) Halker, Linda (Jeff) Glorioso and Pam (Ron) Keysor, along with many cousins and friends.

Mandy was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1998, attended Sinclair University and Brown Mackie College.  She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus Grove.  She was an aide to the elderly and had a special gift and loved to care for them.  She had the biggest, kindest heart and just a truly special person who loved life, her daughter and family.  Mandy loved spending time on the beach in Florida and was lucky enough to travel with her family to some truly lovely locations.  Her smile and warmth will be missed by all who knew and loved Mandy.

Mike and Pam,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Having lost a child myself, I know you and your family will be forever changed. This unimaginable journey is just beginning and you may feel like you just won't make it through this. But, you will. You can and you will. Just take one hour at a time. If you brushed your teeth today, you are doing great!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need resources or just a shoulder to lean on in the dark pit of grieving a child.

Life---The Constant Struggle For Survival
(By T.J. Riegle)

War-Peace, Love-Hate, Birth-Death---trying to survive it all,
Even though (deep down) we know we’re all terminal.

We exercise then flex, we primp then pose---all in vain
As age robs the physical beauty we seek to obtain.

Is it really worth all the unnecessary fuss
As the body slowly breaks down and abandons us?

Quitters say, “Why bother? It isn’t worth the strife.”
Fighters fight the good fight, the quest for life.

Christians are fighters, and prayer warriors too,
As they try to defeat each foe life throws in front of you.

Staunch fortitude serves as an inspiration to some
To run life’s race….as if it can be won.

But let’s not lose sight of the more important goals---
What God has in-store for His most faithful souls.

The real race is not a matter of the distance run.
Rather, it is all about acceptance of the Father’s Son.

I have no doubt Mandy realized all of this by now.
She is in good hands after taking a final bow.

In the meantime, march onward until your own final curtain falls.
Continue to fight the good fight until the Saviour calls.

“Onward Christian soldier marching as to war
With the cross of Jesus going on before.”

Pam and family. So sorry for your loss. My Mandi still remembers when one of the twins shut the van door on her and she had to get stitches, I believe it happened in Dayton.
