Robert John Utendorf

COLUMBUS GROVE-  Robert John Utendorf, 92, passed away on March 27, 2024 at his home. He was born on February 26, 1932 in Ottawa, Ohio to Francis Utendorf and Adeline (Fenbert) Utendorf who preceded him in death.  On November 22, 1956 he married Agnes H. Schroeder who also preceded him in death.

Robert was a 1951 graduate of Saints Peter and Paul High School in Ottawa, Ohio. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.  Robert retired from Kohls Market where he was a meat cutter and he also farmed.  He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Columbus Grove, Ohio where he was a long time choir member.  He was also a long time 4-H leader.

Robert is survived by his children:  Elaine Leach, Rose (Norm) Schnipke, Jay (Julia) Utendorf, Molly Elgin, Dean (Lynn) Utendorf, Kent Utendorf and Gina (Scott) Tann.  He is also survived by his grandchildren:  Ryan (Ashley), Andrew and Sarah Leach; Melissa (Dave) Greiner, Keith, Elizabeth (Rehmat) Ullah, Heather and Tea Schnipke; Amy (Patrick) Costa, Kayla Utendorf (Steve Nichols), Austin Utendorf, Christopher Hines and Madeline (Trey) Schnabel; Victoria (Nathan) Knapp, Audrey (Erik) Parker, Thomas, Amelia and Catherine Elgin; Abigail (William) Wegert, Rachel (Chris) Baker and Emily (Andrew) Bradish; Kirstene (Paul) Adkins, Cece (Eric) Blythe, Jake and Kam Utendorf; and Francis Tann.  In addition, Robert is survived by his great- grandchildren:  Corbin and Landon Leach, Taliesin Greiner, Alisa Ullah, Lucrezia Costa, Kora and Cooper Knapp, Genevieve Parker, Sawyer Elgin, Isaac and Hannah Wegert, Oliver, Hazel and Ophelia Baker, Reece and Ronan Adkins and Calvin Robert Blythe. He is also survived by his brother Ron (Cathy) Utendorf, his sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Mansfield and Cecilia Kehres and his sister-in-law Virginia Utendorf.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his son Kelvin Utendorf, his twin grandsons, Michael Schroeder Tann and Aaron Horner Tann and his brothers Thomas and Cletus Utendorf.

Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, Ohio with Father Charles Obinwa presiding.  Burial immediately following the Mass at St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
