Rose M. Dotson

Columbus Grove

Rose M. Dotson, age 85, died October 26, 2023, at The Springs in Lima, Ohio.  She was born May 1, 1938 in Columbus Grove, Ohio, to James L. and Millie (Ecklar) Hartman.  She married Roy W. Dotson who died on January 19, 2012.

Rose is survived by her daughter Sherri Kearney, her sons Kenneth (Rebecca) Dotson and William (Jeanne) Dotson, and her twin brother Ross (Teresa) Hartman.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Trish (Chris) Donaldson, Jared (Erin) Rayle, Tom (Sheena) Dotson, Jeremy (Tiffany) Rayle, Holly (Justin) Freitas, Benjamin Kearney, and Jerica Dotson: and nine great grandchildren: Fallon Donaldson, Alexis and Elizabeth Dotson, Harper Donaldson, Tobey Rayle, Keona Kearney, Gabriel Freitas, Julian Rayle, and Christian Freitas.  Preceding her in death were her sisters and brothers-in-law Ruby (Elmer) DeRammelaere and Ruth Ann (Willis) Wright.

Rose was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1956.  While in school, she worked for three years with Eurcile and Koneta Shaw in their grocery.  After graduation she worked for the Kissell Brothers, formerly of Columbus Grove.  Next she worked at Robert Hall Clothing store in Lima, where she took management training.  Then she was the manager at Lerner’s in the American Mall.  Her last employment was with Catherine’s women’s clothing store in Lima as a manager.

Rose attended the Vaughnsville United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her family boating, camping, and traveling.  Holidays with her family were a special time for her. Her special interest was “World News”. 

Family may call at Hartman Sons funeral Home, Columbus Grove, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, October 30, 2023, with funeral services on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 11:00 am Pastor Geoff Eubank presiding.  Burial to follow in Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery on Bluelick Road.

The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
