Roger L. Rayle, 86, died on January 24, 2022, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born on November 7, 1935, in Dupont, Ohio, to Lester and Wanda (Harpster) Rayle who both preceded him in death.
On August 16, 1986, Roger married Judy Gillespie Shafer who survives.
Roger is survived by son Tod (Elizabeth) Shafer of Louisville, KY, and four daughters, Jennifer (David) Roby of Bluffton, OH, Lisa (Jeff) Wilson of Coldwater Lake, MI, Lisa (Dan) Rolston of Louisville, KY, and Valerie (Rob) Ramirez of Bowling Green, KY along with daughter-in-law Rita Halker of Columbus Grove. Also surviving are his brother Ed (Joyce) Rayle of Ayersville, OH, and sister Dolores Rayle of Upper Sandusky, OH, along with thirteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by son, Gary Rayle, his sister Lois Brenneman and his brother, Bobby Rayle.
Roger was a mechanic at Steiner Motor Sales in Pandora for many years, and had been a custodian/janitor with the Pandora Gilboa Schools, a profession he very much enjoyed. In retirement he also worked delivering parts for Bell Auto of Ottawa. Roger was a number one fan of his grandchildren. He was an avid coon hunter; he enjoyed the Leipsic Rod & Gun Club, and was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed boating, horseback riding, flea markets, “barber shop music”, and he loved to mow his yard.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00am also at Hartman Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Wilson officiating. Burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
