Robert E. Schaublin, age 73, passed away at OSU Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, on August 11, 2023.  He was born to Russell and Betty (Altstaetter) Schaublin in Bluffton, Ohio, on October 10, 1949, both of whom preceded him in death.  On November 6, 1976, he married Victoria Horstman who survives in Columbus Grove.

Surviving is daughter Stacy Berry of Columbus, Ohio, brothers Ray (Rosie) Schaublin, Mike (Monica) Schaublin, and Rick (Sandi) Schaublin, and sisters Diana (Kyle) Nienberg and Jane Rodenberger.  Also surviving are four grandchildren Payton (Preston) Harris, Kelbey (Ruby) Berry, Tyler (Sammi) Berry, and Alyissa Berry, along with three great-grandchildren Kyrah and Skylar Harris and Xayah Berry.  Robert was preceded in death by his son Scott Schaublin, his brother Dick Schaublin, and his sister Patsy Johnson.

Robert was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1969, and he was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9648 in Columbus Grove.  He was employed at Phillips in Ottawa until they shut down. After Phillips closed, Bob was the bar manager at the Columbus Grove American Legion.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, enjoyed gardening and being outside, and was an expert with a BBQ grill or smoker much to the enjoyment of his family.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 with funeral services beginning at 6:00 pm..  The family requests you come dressed casually and feel free to wear Bob’s favorite scarlet and gray for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
