Richard V. Hitchcock

Richard V. Hitchcock, 86, passed away on February 9, 2024, at The Meadows of Delphos.

He was born August 14, 1937 in the home where he was raised in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Ray and Clara (Driver) Hitchcock.  He married his sweetheart Margaret (Bartz) on June 15, 1957 and she passed away February, 2018.

Richard is survived by his daughters: Deb (Vern) Crews, Diana (Joe) Hershey, sons: Dennie (Judi) Hitchcock, and Darrel (Lexi) Hitchcock; grandchildren Dawn (Jeff) Davis, Leslie (Matt) Aubry, Taylor (Jenn) Hitchcock, and Jessica Hitchcock; great-grandchildren Faye Davis, June Davis, Benjamin Aubry, Jackson Aubry, Saydi Hitchcock, and Kevin. He is also survived by his siblings, Tom (Nancy) Hitchcock, and Wayne (Cheryl) Caton.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings Francis (Evan) Burkholder, Dorothy (Willard) Eversole, Mary Jo Basinger, and Patricia (Carroll) Roberts, and granddaughter Ann Ohler.

Richard was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, and then went to work for the Philips Corporation in Ottawa, Ohio with over 41 years of service. He was also a farmer and enjoyed working his land. He loved hunting and trap shooting, and his favorite sports teams were the Ohio State Buckeye Football team and the Cleveland Browns. Richard and Margaret loved to take their family camping over the years as well as other trips.  The family would like to thank the staff of St. Rita’s Hospice and The staff at The Meadows of Delphos for his wonderful care.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 15th, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Additional visitation will be on Friday, February 16th, 2024 from 10-11 am, and Celebration of his Life will follow at 11 am at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio, with Pastor Jim Klausing officiating.  Burial to follow at Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
