Max Schroeder Obituary

Max H. Schroeder, 60, died on January 22, 2022, at Mercy Health in Ottawa.  He was born on August 27, 1961, in Lima, Ohio, to David F. and Elaine (Vorst) Schroeder.  His mother survives in Columbus Grove. 

 

On August 20, 1988, he married Shelly Ellerbrock, who survives in Columbus Grove.

 

Max is survived by his three children Amanda (Paul) Crego, Derek (Monica) Schroeder, and Blake (Julie) Schroeder and grandchildren Logan Schroeder, Ellie Schroeder, Kaden Crego, and a grandson on the way.  Max is also survived by brothers Nick (Joan) Schroeder, Omer Schroeder, and Dave (Beth) Schroeder and sisters Nancy (Keith) Sparks and Becky (Jim) Shaw along with many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Dave Schroeder, granddaughter Kali Crego, brother-in-law Jack Albright, sister-in-law Diane Schroeder, and father-in-law Ken Ellerbrock.

 

Max was a 1979 graduate of Columbus Grove High School, a member of the Ottawa Eagles, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 516 in Columbus Grove. He was an employee at Dick Birkemeier Construction for 10 years and Bluffton Paving for 25 years.  He had also worked for L & H Door Sales, and currently for Jeffers Crane Service. Max was an avid World War II buff, and was an Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds fan. 

 

Max adored his grandkids and spending time with them.  He was the king of chair naps with them.  He also enjoyed spending time on Saturdays in the shed with his brothers and nephews, and vacations with his family and friends.

 

Friends may call on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 2:00 until 8:00 pm at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove.  Father David Ritchie presiding.  Burial to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Columbus Grove.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s School or The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
