Mary Howe Obituary

Beaverdam, Ohio

Mary Lou Howe, 93, died at 11:15 a.m., February 17, 2021, at The Mennonite Home, Bluffton, Ohio, with her twin sons by her side.  She was born October 25, 1927, in Cairo, Ohio to Ward J. and Helen V. (Crom) Wert.

On December 9, 1945, she married John Andrew Howe.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 2006.

Mary Lou is survived by her two twin sons, Jerry (Cynthia) Howe and Garry Howe; six grandchildren, Jenny (Kent) Donges, Nathan (Brandi) Bogart, Melissa (Ryan) Campbell, Mikayla (Josh) Taylor, Marissa Howe and Tessa (Alan Thielen) Howe; 14 great grandchildren; her son in-law, Tom (Anita) Bogart; her two sisters, Wilma Jean Best and Donna (John) Smith, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Bogart; two sons, John Michael "Mike" Howe and David Alan Howe and one granddaughter, Ashley Howe.

Mary Lou had retired from Bluffton College in 1989 as a secretary and was a homemaker.  She had been a member of the Beaverdam United Methodist Church and the Columbus Grove Eagle Auxiliary.  She loved spending time at Indian Lake, taking trips to Las Vegas, doing word search puzzles and especially spending time with her family.

Mary Lou was well-known for her warped sense of humor and practical jokes, especially putting tape on her husband's glasses while he napped in his chair and woke up "blind".  If you went to visit her on April Fool's Day, it was at your own risk!  Mary Lou and her husband John are once again watching and dancing to "The Lawrence Welk Show".

Per the family wishes, there will be no service or visitation at this time.  Burial will be in Cairo Eastside Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Ohio Food Bank.
