Mary Jane Griffith

Vaughnsville, Ohio

Mary Jane Griffith, age 85, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at The Meadows in Kalida.  She was born on December 6, 1936, to Lloyd and Betty (Collar) Miller.  She married Marvin E. Griffith on September 9, 1956, in Vaughnsville, Ohio, and he survives.

Mary Jane is also survived by her son Greg (Denise) Griffith, her grandchildren Kaylan (Ross) Unverferth of Kalida, Kirsten (Russell) Lammers of Columbus Grove, and Kody Griffith and Kurt Griffith both of Columbus Grove.  Also surviving are great grandchildren Liv and Blake Unverferth and Griffin Lammers, and three step great grandchildren, Landon, Kyla, and Ben Unverferth.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Griffith in 1997.

Mary Jane was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School class of 1954 and Northwestern School of Commerce in Lima in 1955.  She was a member of the former Pythian Sisters, Vaughnsville.  Mary Jane worked at The Lima Telephone Co., the CID of The Provost Marshall Office, Ft. Sam Houston, TX and retired from Columbus Grove Local Schools in 1998.  After retirement she worked for Allen Financial Services in Columbus Grove.  She was a member of the Vaughnsville Community Church and most recently attended St. John’s Methodist Church, Columbus Grove. 

Mary Jane played the organ for many years at the Vaughnsville Community Church and also taught piano lessons.  She loved to bake chocolate chip cookies for her grandkids, and wouldn’t miss a sporting event or activity they were involved in.  She worked with her husband and son on the family farm and would drive the tractor when needed but was always in charge of the bookkeeping.

Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00am. Burial to follow in Vaughnsville Cemetery.
