Marie E. Alexander, 69, died on April 1, 2022, at The Meadows of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ohio. She was born on October 19, 1952, in Lima, Ohio, to Robert G. and Rosina J. (Luma) Neidemire who both preceded her in death.
Marie is survived by her son Charles W. Alexander Jr. and her daughter Amy S. (Toby) Peavy. She is also survived by brothers John Neidemire, Dale (Kim) Neidemire, Donny (Cherie) Neidemire, and Kenny (Sally) Neidemire along with sisters Loretta Bessette, and Rose (Richard) Schneip. Also surviving are grandchildren Julianna M. (Nicholas) Vandewalle, and Aaron M. Huehl along with sister-in-law Linda Neidemire and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Tom Neidemire, sister Patty Downey, and brother-in-law Bob Bessette.
Marie attended Bluffton High School. After high school she began her working years as a housekeeper for a local couple close to home. Upon meeting and marrying her husband, she had two children, Amy and Charles. She enjoyed time with her children, raising them in Columbus Grove. With the children growing up, she relocated to Ottawa to enjoy a quiet life. In her working years, Marie worked at Hilty Memorial Home and Lima Memorial Hospital. She also spent time keeping house for Dr. Sean Austin and other various members of the community.
When you walked into Marie’s home or room, she had chickens staring at you from all angles and in every room. No chicken went uncollected or unappreciated. Additionally, Marie enjoyed collecting teapots and all things purple. Other hobbies included embroidery, running the local streets for garage sales, thrift stores and antiques, and visiting local museums and points of interest. Bargains and sales were of particular interest. Marie enjoyed visiting with family and friends, whether that was in person or via mail. Marie also enjoyed anything that made her laugh. She was fond of popping off with a comment that left you rolling in laughter wiping away tears because it was too funny. Our family will miss her greatly.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home from 10:00a.m. till 1:00p.m. at which time there will be a 1-hour break for the family. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rich Rakey presiding. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery, Bluffton, Ohio.
