Lester "Junior" R Wood

Lester "Junior" Wood, 80, died at 3:52 am, Monday April 5, 2021, at his son's home in Cairo.  He was born March 19, 1941, in Deshler to Lester R. and Lusina (Hefner) Wood.

Junior is survived by his children, Angie (Ron) Wagner, Craig (Michelle) Wood, Todd Wood and Nick (Kim) Wood; six grandchildren, Tim (Laura) Ridenour, Mallory Haley, Mikayla Wood, Emily Wood, Nathan Wood and Grace Wood; one sister, Nona (Gary) Collins and one sister in-law, Jane Wood.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Wood and five brothers, Wilbur Wood, Dickie Wood, Willis Wood, Navarro Wood and Monte Snyder.

Junior attended Columbus Grove High School, graduating in 1960.  He worked at Superior Coach Co., Lima for 23 years.  He had also owned "JR'S Wire and Harness".  Junior worked for Monroe Township from which he retired after 12 years. 

His special interests included sailing, boating and gardening, which he had his own greenhouse.  Junior had played baseball in high school and he played softball with the Superior Coach team.  He enjoyed having coffee at Lickety Split with his friends and actually had his retirement party there.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Services will follow at 12:00 pm, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Holmes to officiate.  Burial will follow in Cairo Eastside Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Humane Society.
