Leroy A. Maag

Leroy A. Maag, age 86 years, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his home near Columbus Grove.  Leroy was born on November 16, 1936, to Bernard and Philomena (Feltman) Maag.  On November 21, 1959, he married Karen Raymond who died on May 6, 2020.

Leroy is survived by three sons Mark (Linda) Maag, Tim (Mary Jo) Maag and Chris (Barb) Maag; and daughter-in-law Tami (Nathan) Tucker; fourteen grandchildren, Katelyn, Brandon, Travis, Bethany, Tucker, Levi, Jordan, Jesse, Isaac, Jacob, Sam, Evelyn, Carson, Elaina; six great grandchildren, Khloe, Cayden, Clark, Jack, Ella Rose, Harlow Grace, and one on the way. Also surviving is sister-in-law Rita Maag.  In addition to his wife Karen, Leroy was preceded in death by his son, Andrew; brothers Harold Maag, Omar (Viola) Maag, Carl (Rita) Maag, Dan (Jennie) Maag, Urban (Rosie) Maag, Eugene (Shirley) Maag, Dennis Maag, and James Maag; and sisters Evelyn (Harold) Wannemacher, Catherine (Harold) Deters, Mildred (Wilbur) Roof, and Marcia (James) Kuhlman.

Leroy was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School.  He enjoyed watching the Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes.  He enjoyed reading and putting puzzles together in his free time.  He was a hard-working man whose favorite “job” was farming and being on the land.  Also, Leroy retired from Phillips ECG after 25-years of service.  He loved his wife and supported her in every venture she undertook.  Leroy loved his family, especially the little ones, and enjoyed spending as much time with them all as possible.

He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove.

Services will begin a 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Father David Ritchie will officiate, with burial to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Friends may call prior to the services from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

The family requests any memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
