Joan W. Hill was called into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at 11:00 pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at her home, after a valiant fight with cancer. Joan was born December 3, 1931, to Paul and Gaynell (Widdowson) Wilt in Buck Run, PA. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Buck Run through eighth grade and was a graduate of Clymer High School, Clymer, PA.
She was a homemaker and later in life she had worked for and retired from Montgomery Ward Company. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday School class for many years, enjoyed singing in the choir, and was a member of the Encouragers Sunday School class. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, family reunions, and church fellowship events.
Joan married Bill Lyman Hill, October 29, 1949, who preceded her in death January 29, 2021. She is survived by her son, Gary Hill (Lima);daughter, Pamela (Scott) McKanna (Vaughnsville); five grandchildren, Dallas (Connie) Hill, Candace Hill, Holly (Jim Doty) McKanna, Maralee (Grant) Sullivan, and Crystal-Dawn (Errik) Hood; eight great-grandchildren, Alex Marshall, Parker Hill, Amelie Hill, Alana Doty, Stefen Doty, Patrick Sullivan, Paige Sullivan, and Sawyer Sullivan. She is also survived by a niece, Mitzi (Steve) Mitchell who lived with Joan in her early teens.
She is also survived by her two brothers, William (Sharon) Wilt and Don (Lee) Wilt; one sister, Meredith (William) Beck; one sister in-law, Yveetes Simpson; one brother in-law, Eugene (Donnie) Hill; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lloyd (Lois) Wilt and Edmund (Isabelle) Wilt; and four sisters, Marilyn Wilt, Vivian (Richard) Foster, Ruth (Ernie) Knight and Dorothy (John) Kelbaugh.
The Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 noon, on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Lima Baptist Temple, Rev. Gary Hohman officiating.
At 10:00 a.m., a burial service will be at the Vaughnsville Cemetery, prior to the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Rescue Mission or Lima Baptist Temple.
