James "Jim" E. Dunn

Columbus Grove, Ohio

James E. “Jim” Dunn, 81, died Saturday, December 25, 2021, at his home in Columbus Grove, Ohio.  He was born August 23, 1940, in Ottawa, Ohio, to Edward James and Helen (Doepker) Dunn.

On September 26, 1959, he married Judy A. Goodwin who survives in Columbus Grove.

Jim is also survived by children James E. (Peg) Dunn Jr., John A. (Jenny) Dunn, Joseph L. (Sue) Dunn, Jeffrey M. Dunn, Jennifer L. Suydam, and Jason M. Dunn.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.  His sister Helen (Harley) Rose also survives.  Jim was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jordan Suydam, a sister Mary (Rex) Beach, and a brother Kenneth (Darrilyn) Dunn.

Jim had attended and was a graduate of Saints Peter & Paul High School, Ottawa, Ohio, after which he attended the University of Dayton.  Jim had various employment, but was well known as an insurance agent/owner of Goodwin’s Insurance Agency until he retired in 2001.  Jim was ordained as a deacon for the Diocese of Toledo in 1995.  He served the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Columbus Grove.  He served on the Deanery Board, the Saint George Deanery for Deacons and continued to perform baptisms when needed.  Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  His hobbies included bow hunting, chess, woodworking, and playing cards.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at St. Anthony’s Church, Columbus Grove, Ohio.  Funeral services will begin at 10:00am at St. Anthony’s Church on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with burial to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Columbus Grove.  Rev. Msgr. Walter Oxley presiding.
