James Otis Garver Jr

Dateline: Columbus Grove, Ohio

James O. Garver Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023, at The Meadows of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ohio.  Jim was born July 4, 1940, in Indiana to James and Lilly (Poynter) Garver. 

Jim was a supervisor at LG Phillips Display Company in Ottawa, Ohio, for many years.  He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA, and the Republican party.  His hobbies included boating, sailing, photography, scuba diving, traveling, camping, and was an avid racing fan with >25yrs affiliated with the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He appreciated the years growing up and living in Columbus Grove and Putnam County.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Garver) Nagel of Columbus, Ohio, along with six grandchildren; Michael Miller, John Miller, Nicholas Miller, Brooke (Nagel) Folk, Brent Nagel, and Ryan Nagel and nine great-grandchildren.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lilly Garver, and his brother Donald Garver.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove from 11:00 until time of services. Services will begin at 1:00 pm on July 15, the Reverend Geoffery Eubank presiding, with burial to follow at Truro Cemetery in Columbus Grove.
