Glen W. Hayden, 83, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Kessler Estates in Lima, Ohio. He was born in Lima, Ohio October 11, 1939 to Byron and Helen (Ridenour) Hayden. Glen married the love of his life Shirley (Guider), on May 6, 1961 and she preceded him in death October 19, 2021.
Glen is survived by his son, Jerry Hayden, and daughter, Diann Hayden Williams. Also surviving him is a granddaughter, Kaolin (Jeremy) Schumaker, grandson, Steven Gregory (Katrina) Williams, great grandchildren Clara Williams, Landon Schumaker, Barrett Williams, and Josie Schumaker. Glen is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Sharon) Hayden, David Hayden, and Bob (Michele) Hayden, and son in law Michael Girmonde.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack, wife, son Steven and sister in law Chris Hayden.
Glen graduated from Vaughnsville High School and was a member of the Vaughnsville United Methodist Church.
Glen loved his grandchildren very much especially the famous wrestling matches with his grandson and boating with his granddaughter. Glen owned Hayden’s Towing and Auto Sales, and was an auto instructor for many years at Lima Senior High School. He loved to race at Limaland, Eldora, and Millstream racetracks. He loved restoring classic cars, winning many awards for this passion. The family enjoyed awesome times skiing and boating at Indian Lake. Glen enjoyed working alongside his son Jerry for many years. His daughter Diann cherished the time she spent with her dad the last few years.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home from 4–8 PM and from 10-11 AM on Monday, January 16, 2023. Celebration of Life services will follow immediately at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Brown will officiate with burial to follow in Truro West Cemetery.
