Elmer F. Kerner, 81, passed away peacefully at the Meadows of Kalida on Monday, April 25, 2022. He was born on April 27, 1940, in Lima, Ohio, to Cornelius and Ida (Karhoff) Kerner both are deceased.
On November 7, 1964, he married Armella Vennekotter who passed on September 26, 2020.
Elmer is survived by one son, Steve Kerner, of Columbus Grove; two daughters Cindy (Tim) Stechschulte, of Chocowinity, NC, and Brenda (Dave) Douglas, of Ottawa; and one sister Norma (Richard) Westrick of Ottawa. He is also survived by grandchildren Taylor (Adhul) Kalapurackal, Alex (Courtney) Stechschulte, and Madison (fiancé Patrick Hainline) Stechschulte; and Logan, Olivia, Mitchell, and Conner Douglas; and great grandchildren Claire and Jack Stechschulte.
Mr. Kerner was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Elmer worked for Othmar Schnipke, Morman Brothers Builders, and was self-employed before retiring and has been a life-long farmer. He served in the National Guard. Elmer was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2234, Ottawa.
Elmer was always eager to share his knowledge of farming and carpentry with his children and grandchildren.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father David Ritchie will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
