Elizabeth A (Krontz) Bailey Wells

Ottawa, Ohio

Elizabeth Ann Bailey Wells, 87, of Ottawa and formerly from Columbus Grove, died December 31, 2021 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima, Ohio.  She was born in Columbus Grove, the daughter of John and Anna (Merschman) Krontz, Sr. 

Elizabeth had been married to Paul Bailey (deceased), and was later married to Charles Wells, who also preceded her in death, and she had a long-time companion, Luther Schrader, who just died this past May 2021.

Elizabeth grew up in Columbus Grove, and had attended Columbus Grove School.  While living in Columbus Grove, she worked as the housekeeper and office cleaner for the dental offices of Doctors A.B., Don, and Mark Hilty, DDS.  She worked at the Recker-Trame VFW Post 9142, Ottawa, Ohio, and was also employed at the former Phillips Co., in Ottawa from which she retired.  Some of her favorite things included playing bingo, gambling, and crocheting.  She especially loved to hear her son, Tim, sing and always followed the band he sang with.  Last, but certainly not least, Elizabeth was a wonderful baker of sweet rolls, having her own “special” recipe.

She is survived by her son Tim (Deb) Bailey, daughters Paula (Don) Siefer, and Anna (Jim) Ketcham, brother Ted (Beverly) Krontz, sisters Clara (Larry) Rayburn and Wilma Schrieber, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Krontz and LaDean Krontz.

Preceding her in death were brothers John Krontz Jr. and Jim Krontz, Jesse (Wanetta) Krontz, and sisters Bonnie (Bob “Tex”) Hawk, Dorothy (Ronald) Jaynes, Rosemary (Walter Stephen) Monroe and Mildred Krontz.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with the funeral service same day beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the Osborne Cemetery near Columbus Grove.  Pastor Duane Kemerley will officiate the services.
