Eileen VanTilbrough

Eileen VanTilbrough passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Vancrest in Delphos, Ohio.  She was born April 22, 1933 in Delphos to Benjamin and Cecilia (Grone) Utrup.  On June 26, 1954, she married Gareld L. VanTilbrough who preceded his wife in death on the 21st of January, 2016.

Surviving is son Kevin VanTilbrough of Columbus Grove and daughter Karen (Mike) German of Dublin, Ohio, along with three grandchildren, Casey, Corey, and Lisa.  She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann (Fred) Lisk.  Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph and Eugene and sister Juletta (Ervin) Recker.

Eileen attended Delphos St. John’s School, from which she graduated in 1951.  In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at Steinman Brothers Lumber Co., formerly in Bluffton, Ohio, after which she worked in Ottawa at the former Federal Land Bank where she assisted making farm loans. 

Memberships include Delphos St. John’s Church, St. Anthony’s Church, Columbus Grove, and its Altar Rosary Society, and the Blocks to Books mother’s club in Columbus Grove.  Eileen enjoyed bowling, gardening, and especially her family.  She followed Columbus Grove sports as well as St. John’s sports, loved to travel, and was an avid water skier and boater!

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church, Columbus Grove, with Father David Ritchie presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s cemetery.

The family requests any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Eileen’s memory.
