Doris E. (Newland) Palte

Columbus Grove, Ohio

Doris E. Palte, 94, died at 4:45 a.m., on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at The Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born June 27, 1927, in Ottawa, Ohio to Vyron and Irene (Vance) Newland.  They both preceded her in death.

On December 27, 1947, she married Bernard H. “Ben” Palte.  He preceded her in death on August 13, 2003.

Doris is survived by three sons, Dennis (Kris) Palte, James (Karen) Palte and Mark Palte; nine grandchildren, Brooke (Ethan) Wade, Brandi Lingreun, Blake (Mahsa) Lingreun, Scott (Amber) Palte, Stephani (Eric) Fortman, Steven (Morgan) Palte, Tisha (Terry) Myer, Eric Palte and Courtney Palte;  12 great grandchildren and her son in-law, Rex Lingreun.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Lingreun; one brother, Donald Newland and one sister, Dorothy Thompson.

Doris had attended Ottawa Public School.  She was a member of the Columbus Grove American Legion Auxiliary.  Doris had worked at the Lima Tank Depot during WWII, after which she and her husband to be, Ben, were united in marriage on December 27, 1947.

Doris never missed a family member’s birthday, always sending them a card.  She loved Christmas and celebrating her birthday.  Doris and Ben loved spending winter’s in Florida.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Katie Hayes officiating.  Burial will be in St. Anthony Church Cemetery, Columbus Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Grove St. John’s United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
