Columbus Grove, Ohio
Donna B. Smith, 94, of Columbus Grove, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at her home. She was born April 14, 1929 in Cairo, Ohio to Ward and Helen (Crom) Wert. On July 15, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart John R. Smith, celebrating over 70 years of marriage and he survives her.
Donna is also survived by two daughters, Denise Smith, and Becky (Tom) Timmons, four grandchildren Kim Caton, Chadd Caton, AJ Euckert, and Mindy Euckert, two great grandchildren Ryan Harrison and Lily Southard. She is also survived by a sister Jean Best.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra and sister Mary Lou Howe.
Donna was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, was employed at and retired from the Phillips Corporation. Mom was a member of the Cairo Methodist Church, Eastern Star, served as a Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls, and a Girl Scout Leader. She loved puzzles, crosswords, and writing daily journals.
A special thank you to Bonnie Gertsen for her many visits and awesome cookies. Hartman Sons Funeral Home are handling her final wishes.
Per her wishes there will be a private family remembrance at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful caring and supportive staff from Putnam County Homecare and Hospice and if you would like to honor mom, please make a contribution in her name to them.
