Derrick S Conn

Derrick S. “Dewey” Conn, age 50, passed away on November 3, 2022, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.  He was born on November 22, 1971, in Lima, Ohio, to Steven and Linda (Schroeder) Conn who both survive.

Derrick married Zandra Gipson on July 28, 2018, and she survives near Columbus Grove.

Derrick is survived by his daughter, Tayden Conn of Columbus, Ohio, two step-daughters Brooke Helms of Tipton, IN, and Brittany (Josh) Cozadd of Bluffton, OH, and one step-son Brian (Jessika) Ackerman of Lima, OH.  Also surviving are one grandson Braxton Chamale; three step-granddaughters Serenity, Harlow, and Ella; three step-grandsons Ashton, Layton, and Eli. He is also survived by two brothers Andy (Mandy) Conn of Cloverdale, and Jarrod (Dre) Conn of CA, along with one niece Madelyn Conn, and one nephew Hunter Conn.

Derrick was preceded in death by his son Ty Conn and brother Travis Conn.

Derrick grew up in Glandorf, attended and graduated from Ottawa-Glandorf School.  He was an excellent self-taught welder and fabricator having worked at McElwain Industries in Kalida and at ADS Drainage Systems in Findlay.  Derrick was a member of the Kalida Rod & Gun Club and was an avid Mathews Compound Bow Hunter, with 99 successful harvests.  He was an avid fisherman, loved hunting mushrooms, cutting wood, riding his 4-wheeler, and he was an excellent cook.  Derrick loved to mentor all children of all ages in any project, hobby or skills they were enjoying and working with. 

Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 2:30 pm until time of service at 6:30 pm.  Pastor Jerry Meyer presiding.  The family requests everyone dress casually as Derrick would have preferred.
