Daniel (Dan) J. Fortman (59) of Columbus Grove, OH, passed away Monday July 4th, 2022. He was born on December 29, 1962, to Jerry and Judy Fortman who preceded him in death.
Dan is survived by his wife Nicole (Pitney) Fortman, (in-laws Mary Lou & David Pitney) and children, Haley (Matt) McVicker, James (Kimberly) Fortman, Katelind Fortman and Austin (Alexis) Hoyt; Grandchildren Isla, Killian and Declan McVicker, Olivia, Jaxon, Paisley and Trenton Hoyt. Siblings; Eric (Stephanie) Fortman, Chris Fortman (Deb Langhals), Wendy Fortman, Leslie (Jim) Smith & Gretchen (Tim) Staley.
Dan was born and raised in Columbus Grove, OH, graduating from Columbus Grove High School. He spent the most of his professional life working in the electrical trades, as a business owner and most recently as a Controls and Integration Engineer at GM Defiance Foundry. Dan and Nikki loved sharing their home with family and friends. His lively spirit and humorous disposition made everyone feel at home, he truly enjoyed teasing his family. He loved his family well, especially his seven grandchildren. Dan took great pride in being a Papa. His grandchildren carried a tangible joy in his presence because of the memorable way he loved them.
Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, at 10:00 am, Father David Ritchie presiding. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
