Carl L. Maag, 91, died 4:45 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at The Meadows of Putnam Acres, Ottawa, Ohio.
He was born on March 1, 1923 in Kalida, to Ben and Philomena (Feltman) Maag, they preceded him in death.
On September 5, 1951, he married Rita M. Gerschutz, she survives in Ottawa, Ohio.
Mr. Maag retired from Philips Electronics, formerly Ottawa. Carl was a life long farmer. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Carl enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching sports on TV, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons: Kevin (Pam) Maag, Glandorf, Dave (Jean) Maag, Columbus Grove, and Brad (Karen) Maag, Glandorf; four daughters: Sandy (Denny) Knott, Kalida, Mary Jane (Dave) Perkey, Ottawa, Janet (John) Schulte, Kalida, and Renee (Gary) Niese, Miller City; four brothers: Urban (Rosemary) Maag, Gene (Shirley) Maag, both of Columbus Grove, Dennis (Rita)Maag, Kalida, and Leroy (Karen) Maag, Columbus Grove; one sister: Marcia (James) Kuhlman, Ottawa; one brother in-law: Wilbert Roof; two sisters in-law: Viola Maag, Leipsic and Jenny Maag, Columbus Grove, 14 grandchildren: Denny Karcher, Bob (Gina) Karcher, Abby (James) Beckman, Kyle Maag, Kelsey (Bill) Schumaker, Nick Maag, Nathan Maag, Ross Maag, Adam Maag, Michael Perkey, Amy (Elton) Lammers, Ryan Schulte, Alyssa Schulte, Lauren Niese, Breann Niese and Tess Niese; and seven great grandchildren: Evan Karcher, Kaitlyn Karcher, RaeAnn Karcher, Brody Karcher, Nora Beckman, Brock and Barrett Lammers; one step grandson: Brian Knott and one step great grandson: Carson Knott.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Charlie Karcher; three sisters: Mildred Roof, Evelyn Wannemacher, Catherine "Katie" Deters ; four brothers: Harold, Omer, Dan and James Maag.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., October 8, 2014, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. There will be an Altar Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m..
