Bill Lyman Hill was called into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 4:50 pm, Friday, January 29, 2021 at St. Rita's Mercy Health Hospice, Lima, Ohio.
Bill was born February 13, 1930 to Norman and Myrtle Hill in Dixonville, Pennsylvania. He was a 1948 graduate of Green Township High School in Purchase Line, Pennsylvania. He retired from the AC&Y Railroad after 41 years of service. He enjoyed singing with the Lima Beane Barbershop Chorus. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple where he taught the Master Builders Sunday School class for many years until the present.
Bill is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan who resides in Vaughnsville; one son, Gary Hill (Lima); one daughter, Pamela (Scott) McKanna (Vaughnsville); five grandchildren, Dallas (Connie) Hill (Woodbridge, VA), Candace Hill (Greenwood, IN), Holly (Jim Doty) McKanna (Ft. Wayne, IN), Maralee (Grant) Sullivan (Lima, OH), and Crystal-Dawn (Errik) Hood (New York, NY); eight great-grandchildren, Alex Marshall, Parker Hill, Amelie Hill, Alana Doty, Stefen Doty, Patrick Sullivan, Paige Sullivan, and Sawyer Sullivan.
He is also survived by one brother Eugene (Donnie) Hill; two sisters, Yveetes Simpson and LaRue Ditch; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles; a twin brother Robert; a sister Al Dine Bame; three brothers-in-law, Alex Simpson, George Ditch, and Richard Bame; and a sister-in-law Lois Hill.
Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Lima Baptist Temple. Rev. Al Elmore and Rev. Gary Hohman will officiate.
A private family burial service will be at the Vaughnsville Cemetery prior to the funeral service. There will be no visitation, but the family requests visits to Joan in the weeks to come.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Rescue Mission or Lima Baptist Temple.
