Ruby Ardella Rimer , age 88, passed away peacefully in Perrysburg, Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Lima, August 21, 1929, to Larrick P. "Lefty" and Mae (Anderson) Litten.  They both preceded her in death.

On January 3, 1948, she married Donald S. "Butch" Rimer.  He preceded her in death, November 20, 1983.

Ruby is survived by a son, Don Scott (Jennifer Jay) Rimer and a granddaughter, Delaney Jaid Rimer, all of Perrysburg; her sister Sharon Kay (Will) Nusbaum of Vaughnsville; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Michael) Richards, Dina (Steve) Tadena, Paula (Ken) Musselman, Cheryl (Dean) Zorn, David (Kristy) Nusbaum, Matt (Heather) Nusbaum; her cousins, Wilda Caton, Jo Allen, Dean Litten; and all her dear friends, Suzanne Plumb, Sharon Lienberger, Carol Simons, Ruth Boyd, Jeanne Niese, Janet Sholl and Todd Schroeder (her "second son"), among many many others.

She was preceded in death by a dear friend Jack Williams.

Ruby was a member of the Vaughnsville Community Church and in her final months she had the good grace to meet Pastor Grace Brooks of Grace Methodist Church in Perrysburg, who made an incredible impact on her in such a very short time.

She had many jobs in her lifetime including working  for the First National Bank, Colonial Finance, McDonald & Company and finally as the secretary/treasurer at the Vaughnsville Telephone Company, where she also served on the board.  She was a member of the United States Telephone Association, served on the NTCA, the Lima YWCA boards.  She was a member of the Allen County Friends of the Library, delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital, an activity she loved doing right up to the time of her diagnosis.

Ruby loved her cats Tux and Oreo, who have both gone on to good homes to continue to get the love and care she would want for them.  She also loved to read and travel.  Her travels took her all over the world starting with the "Follow the Reds" trips to San Francisco, LA, Boston, Montreal and then expanding to Hong Kong, Hawaii, Colorado, Europe, Scandinavia, Austria and even back to the Great Wall of China at the age of 86.

Services will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday November 18, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Pastor Grace Brooks will officate with burial to follow at Vaughnsville Cemetery.
