Mary Mack Obituary

OTTAWA- Mary Kathryn Mack, 99, passed away on February 14, 2024 at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born on May 15, 1924 in Pandora, Ohio to Ira H. Mack and Kathryn E. (Pierman) Mack who preceded her in death.

Mary K is survived by 2 nieces, Carol (Roger) Graber and Diana Miller, nephew, David (Donna) Gratz and nephew-in-law Arthur (Linda-deceased) Holman. She is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews, 28 great- great nieces and nephews and 5 great-great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary K was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred Gratz, her niece Linda Holman and her great nephew, Aaron Gratz.

Mary K, as she was known, graduated from Crawfis College High School in Putnam County and from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor degree in business education. She worked as a manager of Stewart’s Clothing Store in Columbus Grove, Ohio for 50 years and retired when the store closed.  She was enrolled when a few days old at Riley Creek United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ohio and was a lifetime member. She was also a long-time member and an officer in the Eastern Star.

Mary K was a strong, independent and determined woman who reached the age of 99 by living a simple life on the farm where she grew up and working at a job she truly loved. She enjoyed walking in the woods, keeping up with grain prices, listening to the OG Titans games, and telling stories of her family and the past. Visits always ended with ice cream. Mary K never said “goodbye” after a phone call or a visit. She ended with “we’ll keep in touch” and touch us she did.

Friends may call on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Riley Creek United Methodist Church in Ottawa from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Marcella Cicottelli officiating. Burial will follow service at Harman Cemetery in Gilboa, Ohio.
