Violet L. Rodenberger, 96, died peacefully at 8:00 am on Monday  June 19, 2017, Lima Memorial Heath Systems.

She was born May 7, 1921  in North Manchester, Indiana to William and Maude (LaRue) Gill, who preceded her in death.

On November 12, 1938 she married William G. Rodenberger of Lima, who died February 25, 2008.  They celebrated 69 years of marriage prior to his death.

Mrs. Rodenberger was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove.  She was part of the Women's Society, various church advisory committees, like "Now", several food preparation programs for various others, helped with the summer Bible School for over 25 years and participated in many fund raising activities for the good of the church.

"Violet", as most people called her, was a remarkable woman, wife, daughter, aunt, sister, grandma and especially a friend to everyone.  She was always very caring of others and prided herself in sharing her "farm raised" vegetables with her neighbors and with others who wanted something fresh from her garden.

She noticeably enjoyed her family and never lost sight of her love for them and concern for their well being.

Survivors include three sons:  Bill (Pat) Rodenberger of Boyd, Texas, Dr. Larry (Bobbi) Rodenberger of Lebanon and David Rodenberger of St. Mary's; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son:  Terry Rodenberger; three sisters and six brothers.

Services will begin 11:00 am, on Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. John's United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove,  with Rev. Brett Kelly officiating.  Burial will follow at Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove and from 10:00-11:00 am, time of service at St. John's United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's United Methodist Church.

My condolences to the Rodenberger family. Many times when I visited Grove Mom and Dad and Violet and her husband would all run to the Kewpee with me. They were great friends of Mom and Dad.
